After 5 years of intensive full time training I gained an MChiro in Chiropractic at The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2009. During my clinical experience at university, I developed an enthusiasm for the treatment of extremity conditions (foot, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow and wrist), and I have pursued this interest as part of my Continual Professional Development. In addition to this, I have further developed my interests in treatment of the neck and shoulder.
In late 2009 I decided to practice in Torquay. This is where I then developed an interest in how occlusal (jaw) problems can have a dramatic effect on posture and musculoskeletal function. Following this, it led me to work in a multidisciplinary setting with dentists that specialise in occlusal problems.
In 2010 I became a member of the Sacro-Occipital Technique Organisation to commence the 4 year post graduate course. This enabled me to become one of the few chiropractors in the UK to hold this qualification. In the summer of 2011 I completed some work in my hometown of Yorkshire with the players of Bradford City Football club. We currently work with the players of Torquay United and Torquay Rugby Club.
In March 2012 I spent some time working with world renowned Dr Jonathan Howat DC and his team in Oxford to increase my knowledge of Sacro-Occipital Technique and Mal-Occlusion.
During the last 6 years I developed a keen interest in the treatment of pregnant women and paediatrics. This led me to attend specialist post graduate pregnancy and paediatric courses focusing on chiropractic treatment for pregnant patients and babies.
When I’m not in the clinic keeping the people of Torbay in check, you’ll find me in the gym or cooking up a storm in my kitchen!
I have graduated with a 1st class Master’s in Chiropractic from Anglo-European College of Chiropractic. My studies gave me a rounded and detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology, building on interests I’ve had since I was young. I then put these new skills into practice during my placement year. This involved helping patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems. It was unfortunately cut short slightly due to current circumstances. So, I’m even more eager to get back to work and help those in need of some chiropractic care.
My interest in chiropractic stemmed from being a patient of Dipty’s as a teenager over 10 years ago. She helped me continue playing tennis and hockey growing up and is a large part of why I could continue this on regularly into uni. Before this, I wasn’t even really sure what chiropractic was, or how it worked. But in true full circle fashion, I couldn’t be more excited to start work in the place that first exposed me to the profession and has helped me and my family for years.
Due to my personal experience of chiropractic, I’m particularly interested in seeing how recovery can be sped up and help people regain a ‘normal’ state of wellbeing that can often be taken for granted. Whether this be an acute sports related injury, or more of a longstanding general complaint. I’ve always been fascinated by the human body. Particularly the anatomy and biomechanics piecing it all together and I’m looking forward to further developing my knowledge on some of its niches.
In terms of where I’ll be when I’m not at work, this will probably consist of trying to get the dog to come back on a walk. Or, attempting some pretty shoddy home DIY projects (for which any hints will be gratefully received). Hopefully sometime soon I’ll be able to get back into some of the local sports clubs which I’ve not been able to be a part of for the last few years and settle back down in Torquay.
I first graduated in 2017 where I studied Sports Conditioning Rehabilitation & Massage at Cardiff Metropolitan University. During my time at Cardiff I worked in a variety of settings. This included working in the clinic at the National Indoor Athletic Centre where I also worked specifically with the Athletics team. I worked with the Team Bath Netball Super league team for this season where I dealt with professional athletes and helped prepare for major league games as well as aid in the recovery process.
I always knew that I wanted to be a physiotherapist. So, in 2018 I enrolled on to MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-Registration) at University of Southampton where I studied intensively for 2 years. I would also return to Torbay at the weekends to see my patients. Studying physiotherapy has given me such a wider scope of practice and built upon my experience where I have worked with a huge variety of patients; these include stroke and neurological patients as well as widened my experience within the musculoskeletal field.
After graduating I also took on a job within the local NHS. I worked with a variety of physiotherapists to help develop my skills as well as maintaining my patients at Essential Chiropractic. However, as much I enjoyed my time at the hospital, I knew Team Essential Chiropractic was what I enjoyed the most working in a smaller team with great people.
I like to stay busy so when I’m not working you will catch me walking my dog, at the gym or socialising with friends.

In 2018 I suffered a sports related knee injury while competing in an 18km obstacle course in the Swiss Alps. After I visited a physiotherapist, I continued to research my own condition and my fascination with the human body and biomechanics began from there.
I went on to study and become a qualified Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer, specialising in women’s health and coaching pre- and post-natal women.
Throughout my time as a personal trainer I have discovered that many of my clients suffer with physical limitations; this led to me undertaking a qualification as a Corrective Exercise Specialist. I wanted to expand my knowledge and further help my clients to use their bodies to their full potential, therefore, aiding their everyday activities, performance in the gym and overall quality of life. I am passionate about working hands on with patients, supporting their rehabilitation and journey back to full health.
Prior to my studies in fitness and rehabilitation I spent many years working as a Beauty Therapist in a variety of settings. My most recent qualification in Level 3 Sports Massage compliments my existing Swedish Body Massage and Indian Head Massage. I love to learn new skills and will soon be able to offer Hot Stones Massage too!
Outside of work you’ll find me juggling life with my 2-year-old daughter, my dog and a slight gym addiction.

Having gained my Sports Massage qualification, I became a Freelance Massage Therapist & set up my own business – Movefree Sports Massage in 2023. I also started a Teaching Assistant position at South Devon College helping inspire a new generation of Massage Therapists aged 16-18, which can be challenging at times but so rewarding.
Having a rather physical and active lifestyle, I am usually running around playing football with my two young boys or training in calisthenics and arm balancing, I have dealt with my fair share of injuries and know too well the importance of regular treatment. I believe massage therapy should be accessible to all and that we should not have to live day to day dealing with aches and pains. When you walk out of the clinic feeling better than when you walked in, that gives me an enormous sense of accomplishment. I will work with you to understand your needs and develop a tailored service accordingly. Helping you feel better mentally and/or physically is why I love this job.
I’m always looking to expand my knowledge and this year I intend to gain my level 4. I will be adding Dry Cupping Therapy & Pregnancy Massage to my list of treatments too.

Hi, my name is Louis, I was born and raised in the Philippines then moved to Manchester in 2011 before becoming a student at the University of Exeter in 2018! After having completed my BSc Neuroscience degree, I was unsure with what to do moving forwards, so I explored all avenues of careers ranging from mixology all the way to working for the British Army as a reservist.
It wasn’t until I crossed paths with Dipty and her team where I realised that there was a whole new application for my degree. After months of studying at South Devon College, I qualified for a Level 3 Diploma in Performance Massage and not too long after that I did my IV and Nutritional Therapy qualification! I enjoy the approach we have at the clinic when it comes to therapeutics and working alongside a wonderful team of professionals!
I am interested in learning more about the industry while improving on the quality of treatments available and I hope that in the near future, I will be able to offer more diverse and different types of treatments!
You will also see me working in reception if I am not already practicing in one of the treatment rooms! And during my spare time, I love spending my time outdoors whether its going for a long hike, wild camping or paddleboarding out to the sea by Meadfoot Beach!
I was first introduced to Chiropractic care in 2011 when Dipty gave a presentation to Torbay Athletic Club. As a regular long-distance runner, it was my first port of call when I picked up an injury. It was amazing how effective chiropractic care was for these types of injuries. Now, I have completed the London Marathon twice, The Grizzly and numerous other running events.
I regularly get adjusted before symptoms occur as I realise the importance of the prevention of injuries and an optimally performing nervous system. In fact, I was such a good patient, I was asked to join the team!
It is so rewarding to see the transformation of our patients. From their first visit, when they may be in pain or discomfort, through to their regular maintenance check-ups and when they are back to full health.
I still enjoy running and generally keeping fit but my favourite activity is getting away from it all, most weekends, with my husband in our motorhome.

I was fortunate in finding Essential Chiropractic and Dipty while she was practicing from her former premises on Newton Road, Torquay when I needed help with neck and shoulder pain. A lot has happened during the ten years plus, since we first met, including the practice’s relocation to Lymington Road, Torquay with great success.
Similar to Janine, my route to being part of the lovely support team at EC came from initially being introduced as a patient; I too still have regular maintenance sessions with Dipty to make sure everything’s in order, and recently was asked to join the team!
My working life has very much been office based, however, from March 2020 until March 2021 I was a volunteer for Torbay Community Development Trust. This was such a positive experience, very busy and frustrating at times for obvious reasons, but the job satisfaction was off the scale! Each and every recipient was a delight. I’m also lucky enough to have made new lasting friends too.
It’s always a pleasure to meet our patients, to see and hear how they are progressing and to know we’re helping.
For enjoyment, I go to spin class two or three times a week, walk, catch up with friends and potter around the ‘garden’, or, more accurately, the wilderness that won’t be tamed!! I do like to be outdoors.
